To promote the high-quality tourism environment of Alishan and enter the Muslim tourism market, Alishan National Scenic Area Administration, Tourism Bureau, MOTC (the Administration) worked with the International Muslim Tourism Industry Development Association (IMTIDA) to develop the nation’s first regional tourism resources integration and construction project in which the government directly assisted companies. IMTIDA have successfully helped 18 proprietors, including Fancy Lake Yeashow Villa, Han’s House, Aliscenery, Walk Cloud B&B, Shengli Farm B&B and Shihjhuo B&B of the hospitality industry. At the same time, Alishan House obtained a 4-star certification of the Muslim Friendly Hotel, and many restaurants and cafes have been labeled as Muslim friendly stores, so tourists can have diverse choices when traveling in Alishan. To satisfy the needs of Muslim tourists to buy souvenirs, 7 agricultural products of Alishan have passed the halal certification, providing high-quality souvenirs for future Muslim tourists and laying the foundation for entering the international Muslim tourism market.

Ma Hui-da, Director of the Administration, stated that with its unique natural environment, Alishan is Taiwan’s precious treasure. After training and government assistance, the Muslim friendly stores had a better understanding of the needs of Muslim tourists. This December, we have invited 5 large-scale travel agencies from Malaysia to reconnoiter a potential tour itinerary. Taiwan’s Muslim opinion leaders also participated in the tour, giving us valuable feedback so that we could improve our current service and travel planning. The Administration plans to participate in the MATTA Fair Kuala Lumpur 2019 and send an official invitation to the Muslim tourism market, inviting Muslim tourists from all over the world to come and enjoy the beautiful natural environment of Alishan and the high-quality travel service.
